Excellent post. If you would like to listen to BBC Radio on the iPhone - I strongly recommend BBC Streams - it is easily the most convenient way to listen to BBC Radio on the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and it's free at BBCStreams.com.

Hi, I thought I'd drop you a line and inform you that your web site layout is really screwed up on the Firefox browser. Seems to work OK in IE though. Anyways keep up the great work.

Lossless formats are also the way forward, and Apple have their own. However, most people have MP3s and all Hardware already supports it. Hence the MP3HD (which by the way has been tried before) is a way of everyone moving forward without having to change hardware.

The old MP3 though at present remains the only single standard in the system which is used by distributors/retailers/manufactures and consumers alike. Apple's AAC format (of which there is a lossless version) might slowly become the dominant force, but for now it is just the front runner behind MP3.

You can't have more than one format for the industry to rally behind. It just doesn't happen.

What about lossless? Is that good enough and can it be played on iPods?

I've read different stories on lossless audio, including on whether some can be made to play on standard iPods (though mabe not managed by iTunes...)
